Speed Mitigation Program

Due to the increased complaints of speeding in the City, the Police Department is putting together a speed mitigation plan called “Keep Kids Alive- Drive 25”®.  Keep Kids Alive Drive 25® is a safety/campaign designed to encourage motorists to observe the residential speed limit.  In most cities and towns across the U.S., the normal residential speed limit is 25 mph, thus the slogan “Keep Kids Alive-Drive 25”®.  The City of Dacono has a unique difference from normal cities.  Our residential speed limits are 20 mph and 25 mph.

Why is this campaign needed?

Speeding is a primary concern in residential neighborhoods, as well as in all speed zones, and in communities of all sizes throughout the United States, including here in Dacono.  Residents consistently make requests of the Police and City Council representatives to address speeding in residential neighborhoods.  The reality is that the problem can best be addressed by the people directly affected by its impact, local residents.  Since most speeding in neighborhoods is a direct result of the driving behavior of its residents, “Keep Kids Alive- Drive 25®" mobilizes residents to take responsibility for driving behavior at a grass roots level.

The Police Department plans to implement this program on June 27, 2005

Signs will be destributed to residents base on amount distributed to an area. If interested in displaying a yard sign, please feel free to visit us at the Dacono Police Department to see if a sign can be placed in your yard.
